Our niece, Heather, arrived today after visiting Paris. It was so much fun to show her around "our city". We really have fallen in love with Montpellier. It has so much so near by. Within a few steps are a couple of bakeries, a fabulous cheese shop, a small grocery store and a local wine merchant. Within a block is l'Ancien Courrier, which has fabulous shops selling all sorts of things from clothes, shoes and handbags, to beautiful French linens, to toys and books. Each shop's wares are tastefully and carefully presented and the selection of colours and styles is staggering. In addition to the great shops, the street itself is stunning with it's cobblestones and potted flowers. As I write this post, it is almost 11:00 and we have just returned home from dinner. The French dine late by our standard but we are adjusting by eating a late lunch and taking a short nap in the afternoon. Tonight's meal included salade Lyonnaise, filet mignon, and crême bruleé. Delicioux!
